Hailing from the enchanting landscapes of Northern Ireland, Morgana MacIntyre (Belfast) and Gemma Doherty (Derry) joined forces in Dublin in 2014. Graduates of the same music college, they remained in the city to carve out their unique sound. Their mesmerizing vocal harmonies, intertwined with the electro-acoustic harp and synthesizers, have drawn comparisons to luminaries like Enya and Lisa Hannigan.
Their debut album, ‘Shape of Silence’, received critical acclaim and earned nominations for both the Choice Music Prize and the Northern Irish Music Prize. Now, with their sophomore release, ‘Where I Should End’, they further explore the depths of their artistry. Recorded with Rían Trench in the serene settings of The Meadow, Co. Wicklow, and mixed in Berlin by Benedikt MacIsaac, this album beautifully captures the essence of their journey.
The tracks were crafted during their tour cycle, seeking to uncover meaning in a rapidly changing world. With a playful and organic approach, Doherty and MacIntyre have embraced vulnerability, allowing subtle humor to illuminate the darkness. The album retains the essence of folk-driven harmonies and traditional melodies while expanding its sonic palette with synths, drum machines, and electronic pulses, reflecting their dynamic lives.

I adore the playful energy in ‘Where I Should End’. It’s refreshing to see how they’ve evolved while still honoring their roots in Irish music.
