Luck & Strange marks David Gilmour’s return with his first album of new music in nearly a decade. Recorded over five months in Brighton and London, this highly anticipated release showcases Gilmour’s artistic evolution and features contributions from renowned musicians.
The album includes eight original tracks and a stunning rendition of The Montgolfier Brothers’ ‘Between Two Points’, featuring Romany Gilmour on vocals and harp. Gilmour collaborated with producer Charlie Andrew, known for his work with alt-J, and the lyrics are primarily penned by Polly Samson, Gilmour’s long-time writing partner.
Musicians like Guy Pratt, Tom Herbert, Adam Betts, and others have lent their talents to the album, ensuring a rich sound. The title track includes a special appearance by the late Richard Wright, recorded during a 2007 session. The cover art by Anton Corbijn draws inspiration from Charlie Gilmour’s lyrics for the closing track, ‘Scattered’.
