Frans Bruggen’s Live Concert Recording: Mozart Requiem

The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century stands out as a leading ensemble specializing in period instruments. Under the guidance of the celebrated conductor Frans Bruggen, the orchestra gained international acclaim in the early 1980s by delivering magnificent symphonic pieces using original instruments and historically-informed practices.

Frans Bruggen, a staunch advocate for live performances, rejected studio recordings throughout his illustrious career. In March 1998, during a memorable tour in Japan, he captured a legendary live concert recording of Mozart’s Requiem alongside the Netherlands Chamber Choir at a concert in Tokyo. This performance is not just a recording; it’s an experience that encapsulates the essence of live classical music.
