‘Résistance’ is a bold and inspiring album that showcases the evolution of Songhoy Blues following their breakout success with ‘Music in Exile’ in 2015. Recorded in the autumn of 2016 at The Pool studio in London, this album was produced by Neil Comber, known for his work with MIA and Crystal Fighters.
In line with their collaborative spirit, ‘Résistance’ features contributions from the likes of Iggy Pop, Elf Kid, and Stealing Sheep, as well as additional synths by Lxury. The album beautifully melds traditional Mali music with modern influences, highlighted by stunning string arrangements in tracks like ‘Hometown’ and a poignant children’s choir in ‘One Colour’.
