The Selecter emerged as one of the defining bands of the ska revival in the late 1970s, breaking new ground with their unique blend of sound and socially conscious lyrics. Led by the powerful vocals of Pauline Black, the band tackled themes of sexism and racism, making a significant impact on the music scene.
Their journey began with the AA side of The Specials’ single ‘Gangsters’ in 1979, quickly followed by their hit ‘On My Radio,’ which soared to No. 6 in the UK charts. In February 1980, they released their debut album, Too Much Pressure, which reached No. 5 in the UK charts and featured memorable tracks like ‘Three Minute Hero’ and ‘Missing Words.’ This Deluxe Edition celebrates the 40th anniversary and includes a bonus 7-inch featuring ‘On My Radio’ and ‘Too Much Pressure.’
