Villagers – Fever Dreams (Limited Edition Dark Red Vinyl)

Conor O’Brien proudly presents Fever Dreams, the fifth studio album from Villagers, set for release on August 20th through Domino. In these times, escapism is vital, and Fever Dreams delivers an enchanting journey through sound. This album is much more than just a collection of songs; it’s a transformative experience that transports listeners to new realms.

The tracks are imbued with the surreal, dreamlike essence that characterizes the best music albums of 2023. Each song blends the mysterious with the profoundly clear, showcasing O’Brien’s deepening artistry and expanding vision. Inspiration flows from diverse sources, including night swims on a Dutch island, the works of Flann O’Brien and Audre Lorde, as well as influences from jazz legends like Duke Ellington and Alice Coltrane.

Written over two years, the main tracks were recorded during full-band sessions in late 2019 and early 2020. As the pandemic unfolded, O’Brien meticulously refined these pieces in his cozy Dublin studio, with mixing handled by the talented David Wrench (known for his work with Frank Ocean and The xx). Alongside the album launch, Villagers have announced an exciting series of live shows across the UK and Ireland.

Fever Dreams follows the acclaimed albums The Art Of Pretending To Swim, Darling Arithmetic, {Awayland}, and Becoming A Jackal. With two Ivor Novello Awards and nominations for the Mercury Music Prize, O’Brien’s artistry has received widespread recognition. Villagers’ music has even made waves in popular culture, featured in the BBC/Hulu series Normal People and amassing over 165 million streams for their Spotify session of “Nothing Arrived.”
