Conor O’Brien proudly presents Villagers’ fifth studio album, Fever Dreams, set for release on August 20th via Domino. This album offers a mesmerizing escape, transporting listeners to an ethereal realm. Each track showcases the dreamlike quality of its music, merging the mysterious with the unmistakably clear.
Inspiration for Fever Dreams draws from a myriad of sources, from serene night swims on a Dutch island to the literary works of Flann O’Brien and Audre Lorde. The album reflects O’Brien’s expanding artistry and was crafted over two years, with full-band recordings made in late 2019 and early 2020. The pandemic allowed O’Brien to refine these beautiful songs in his cozy Dublin studio, culminating in a mix by acclaimed producer David Wrench.
With a string of accolades including two Ivor Novello Awards and two Mercury Music Prize nominations, Villagers continues to shine in the indie music scene. Their tracks have even found a place in popular culture, featured in the BBC/Hulu series Normal People.
